I Need a Vacation to Recover From My Vacation

Posted on

I’m baaaaack! I’ve been unexpectedly cut off from the internet/world for a full week. It was kind of awesome, and I expected to come back today all rejuvenated with a let’s-take-on-the-world attitude. Instead, I am exhausted. Seriously, I need a vacation to recover from my vacation.

See, in my head it was all relaxing. Chilling on a boat, floating peacefully in the water, enjoying a nice, cold adult beverage…all that jazz.

And yeah, there was some of that, but there was also a whole bunch of water sports. We played on the jet skis, the wakeboards, the kneeboard and the tube…

Which was SO much fun. Then this happened:

That jackass clapping is my little brother. Clearly he enjoyed my…umm…dismount.

But let’s take a closer look at that top photo for a moment, shall we?

Despite the concerned look on my face, it really was a lot of fun. I hadn’t been on a tube in years, and every inch of my body felt it afterward. And when combined with the wickedly painful face-plant that I accomplished on the wakeboard (which, sadly, was not caught on camera), I was sore and worn the eff out. So those pictures that look like I’m lazily basking in the sun? They are actually pictures of me recuperating/apologizing to my body/wondering when I started to feel so freaking old.

Did everyone have a good week/weekend? What did I miss?? I have so much to catch up on in blogland!

  • Awwww! Poor you! I dont know what’s funnier, your recap of the fall or the zooming in of your face in the pictures! I hope you had a lot of fun though…I know what it’s like to need a vacation FROM your vaction! Stopping in from SITS!

    • Haha I’m glad I’m not the only one who doesn’t relax enough on vacation 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!

  • Looks like a you had a great vacation even though it left you pretty tired! I showed Matt the pictures of you on the tube. He thought they were pretty great and he was jealous because he’s been wanting to go on a tube like that attached to a boat. I’m pretty sure I would be really scared to be on it! I tried wake boarding once and it was a disaster.

    • We did have a blast! You guys need to try it, it’s so fun! And you can always ask the boat driver to be nice and not fling you up into the air, so it doesn’t have to be scary. The first year or so that I tried wakeboarding it was a disaster, it’s a try-try-try-again kind of thing (well, for someone of my coordination skills anyway).
